一、課程目標Course objectives

Fantasy Literature, whether it is called literature of subversion or escapism, has been undertaking disproportionated fames and critiques between its literary value and commercial popularities for long enough. In the course students are expected to articulate the figures and structures of fantasy literature as a mode, and further to appreciate the implicated cultural context conveyed with the work through reading and discussion.

三、授課方式Teaching approach

The course consists not only of the teacher’s lectures but also of assigned readings (every two to three weeks with selected chapters), presentations related to the readings, class discussions, and group activities. The selected texts will be organized around a theme, and students will be welcome to contribute ideas to the group to facilitate efficient discussion. Every week on Moodle, there will be a forum with a designed question, and students who use these clues well will be rewarded with a bonus mark for the course.
