一、課程目標Course objectives

This dynamic, project-driven course aims to transform students into digitally fluent communicators by fusing the timeless art of public speaking with the cutting-edge power of generative AI. Over 16 hands-on weeks, students will master a modern AI toolkit to design and deliver well-structured, evidence-based English presentations with professional confidence. The course objectives focus on leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs) to brainstorm, script, and simulate Q&A sessions; utilizing AI slide generators to create visually engaging and story-driven presentation decks; and applying real-time AI speech coaching tools to diagnose and improve pronunciation, pacing, and overall spoken fluency. Ultimately, students will learn to apply these tools ethically and transparently, ensuring they maintain their authentic personal voice and intellectual ownership while confidently commanding any academic or professional room.
(本專題導向課程旨在將經典的公開演說藝術與生成式 AI 的前沿技術完美結合，將學生培養成具備數位溝通能力的專業人才。在 16 週的實作中，學生將熟練掌握現代 AI 工具組，以清晰、自信且專業的風範，設計並發表結構完整且具備論據支撐的英語簡報。本課程的具體目標包括：運用大型語言模型（LLMs）進行腦力激盪、腳本撰寫與問答模擬；使用 AI 投影片生成器打造具備視覺張力與敘事力的吸睛簡報；以及借助即時 AI 語音教練工具來診斷並顯著提升發音準確度、語速控制與整體口語流利度。最終，學生將學會在學術與職場溝通中負責任且合乎道德地使用 AI，在保持個人真實聲音與知識產權的同時，充滿自信地掌控任何演說場合。)

三、授課方式Teaching approach

This course employs a project-driven, hands-on workshop approach that shifts away from only passive lectures and immerses students in an interactive digital laboratory. Utilizing task-based language teaching, students will engage in meaningful, sequential milestones—from AI-assisted brainstorming and script drafting to generating dynamic slide decks. 
本課程採用專題導向與實作工作坊的教學法，跳脫傳統單向講授，讓學生沉浸於互動式的數位實驗室中。透過任務型語言教學，學生將完成一連串具意義的階段性任務——從 AI 輔助的腦力激盪、腳本起草到生成動態投影片。

1.	Midterm Project: 20%
2.	Final Group project: 30%
3.	Tests: 10%
4.	Class attendance, discussion, oral practice: 30%
5.	A reflection journal on a talk about intercultural communication. 10 %

Students are required to watch 2 TED talks on presentation and communication skills. They are required write a reflective journal. This journal will be evaluated for depth of reflection and understanding.

During in-class oral practice sessions, students may practice individually or with partners in designated areas outside the classroom, located within the language center. For certain exercises, the instructor may guide students to alternative locations, such as the university history exhibit in the library basement, to facilitate authentic practice.
