一、課程目標Course objectives

一、課程目標Course objectives:
This course is designed to integrate students’ English abilities. It aims to help students precisely use academic English to describe their thoughts in study fileds.(培養學生歷史資料文獻蒐集解讀之基本能力 &培養學生利用科技工具傳遞、完成歷史相關研究) It also aims at developing students' self-learning habits and increases their language skills in attending English Proficiency tests.
(培養學生擁有檔案編撰管理之一般能力 & 培養學生瞭解本土與世界等不同地區人類歷史文化之多樣性)
This course includes the following aspects.
1.Provide students with rich background knowledge to help improve reading, writing and listening comprehension.
2.Provide learners with clear and fully expressed instructions in learning how to process and decipher new content.
3.Help students learn how to use reading skills such as identifying, inferring, scanning, skimming and predicating in order to increase reading fluency.
4.It not only covers every important area of the English language but also provides even more help for students wanting to improve their use of English abilities.
5.It also uses reading comprehension questions (main idea) from TOEFL intermediate level/ TOEIC to assess students' English proficiency.

三、授課方式Teaching approach

Communicative approach and co-operative learning:
Using textbook or other relevant articles to design some questions about detail and have students work in groups to look for the specific information.
Using reading comprehension questions (main idea) from GEPT intermediate level/TOEIC to assess students’ proficiency.

四、評量方式Grading criteria:

1.	Class participation, assignments and papers------40%
2.	Midterm Exam----- 25%
3.	Final Exam----- 25%
4.	Oral test--- 10%

七、彈性教學

1. 職場專業英文自我學習(3H)：自行挑選一部與職場英文相關影片賞析並撰寫英文心得300字,統一訂於第９週繳交。      
2. 數位自學(3H)：英文線上檢定測驗並紀錄成績和實測檢討作業,訂於第16週繳交。

1. It is your responsibility to ask the class information that you have missed via one of your classmates. 
2. Students are expected to prepare assigned materials or tools (MP3) before coming to class.
3. You must hand in your assignments on time.
4. I will be glad to take your question in person or via e-mail. 
5. Don’t be late in class. 
如本校全面停課改採線上遠距教學時，老師會以email或請助教轉達將課程訊息傳遞給同學，
並上課方式改採遠距視訊上課，並使用紙本或電子檔。
