一、課程目標Course objectives

顧名思義，「文學概論」是一門關於「如何閱讀」的課程，而不只是「閱讀文學」的課程。本課程無意帶領學生遍覽文學經典，而是以文學作品為媒介，培養細讀文本、分析論證、獨立思辨與批判詮釋的能力。課程期望學生不僅學會閱讀文學，更能將所習得的閱讀方法運用於各類文本，在資訊繁雜的時代中，具備理解、判斷與思考的能力。

As its title suggests, Introduction to Literature is fundamentally an introduction to literary reading. Rather than surveying the literary canon, the course aims to cultivate the skills of close reading, critical thinking, and textual analysis. Students will learn not only how to read literary works with greater depth and sensitivity, but also how to approach any text—literary or otherwise—with careful observation, thoughtful interpretation, and critical inquiry.

三、授課方式Teaching approach

每週課程分為三個部分：

開書小考：測驗當週指定閱讀內容。
小組討論：各組就指定議題進行討論，並於課堂結束前繳交一份小組討論紀錄或書面成果。
全班互動討論：由教師引導，全班共同交流、分析與討論文本。

其中，開書小考與小組討論均屬正式評量。進行評量期間，除教師另有規定外，禁止使用任何電子裝置（包括手機、平板電腦、智慧型手錶及任何人工智慧工具）。凡於評量期間違規使用電子裝置者，一律視為作弊處理：開書小考違規者，該次小考成績以零分計算；小組討論違規者，該組當次討論成績以零分計算。

Each class consists of three components:

Open-book quiz based on the assigned reading.
Small-group discussion, during which each group will discuss the assigned questions and submit a written record of its discussion by the end of class.
Whole-class interactive discussion led by the instructor.

The open-book quiz and small-group discussion are graded assessments. During these two activities, the use of any electronic device (including mobile phones, tablets, smartwatches, or AI tools) is strictly prohibited unless explicitly authorized by the instructor. Any unauthorized use of electronic devices will be regarded as academic dishonesty. The student involved will receive a zero on the quiz, and the entire group will receive a zero for the group discussion.

四、評量方式Grading criteria:

Course Grading
Participation (10%): You can earn one stamp on your speech card each time you actively participate in class. Collecting 10 or more stamps during the semester will earn you the full 10 points for participation in your final grade.
Group Discussion (40%): Group discussions include a written submission and are graded as part of your course assessment.
Weekly Quizzes (50%): Quizzes will be administered regularly throughout the semester.
Academic Integrity Policy
Both group discussions and weekly quizzes are considered formal assessments. Therefore, the use of cell phones, smartwatches, tablets, laptops, or any other electronic devices is strictly prohibited unless specifically authorized by the instructor.
If you have any questions about a quiz or a discussion task, please ask the instructor. The instructor is there to clarify instructions and answer questions, so there is no need to consult electronic devices during these assessments.
If you are caught using an unauthorized electronic device during a quiz or group discussion, it will be treated as academic dishonesty. The penalty will be a score of zero for the assessment in question. In the case of a group discussion, all members of the group may receive a score of zero if the violation affects the group's work.
Peer Evaluation
At the end of each group discussion, group members will complete a peer evaluation of one another's contributions. These evaluations will be taken into account when determining each student's individual grade for the group discussion. As a result, members of the same group may receive different grades based on their level of participation and contribution.
The syllabus and course policies may be adjusted by the instructor when necessary, with advance notice provided to students whenever possible.

課程成績計算方式
課堂參與（10%）：學生每次於課堂中主動發言或參與討論，可於發言卡上獲得一枚印章。學期結束前累積 10 枚（含）以上印章 者，即可獲得課堂參與項目的滿分 10 分。
小組討論（40%）：小組討論須完成指定之書面成果，並列入正式成績計算。
每週測驗（50%）：課程將定期實施每週測驗，以評量學生對課程內容之理解與掌握程度。
學術誠信與考試規範
每週測驗及小組討論皆屬本課程之正式評量項目，故均比照考試辦理。除授課教師另有明確允許外，學生於測驗或小組討論進行期間，不得使用手機、智慧型手錶、平板電腦、筆記型電腦或其他任何電子通訊與資訊設備。
如學生對測驗題目或討論問題之內容有任何疑問，應立即向授課教師提出。教師於評量期間在場之目的之一，即為提供必要之說明與澄清，因此學生無須亦不得藉由電子設備查詢相關資訊。
凡於測驗或小組討論期間使用未經允許之電子設備者，均視同違反學術誠信原則，其行為將依作弊論處。違規者該次評量成績以 零分 計算；若違規情事發生於小組討論過程中，且已影響小組作業之公平性或成果之獨立性，則授課教師得視情節輕重，對該組全體成員之小組討論成績予以 零分處分。
同儕評量制度
每次小組討論結束後，組員須針對彼此之參與情形、貢獻程度及合作態度進行同儕評量。授課教師將參酌同儕評量結果，調整並決定各組員之個別成績。因此，即使同屬一組，不同組員仍可能因實際投入程度與貢獻差異而獲得不同之小組討論成績。
為維護分組學習之公平性與品質，請各位同學善盡團隊責任，積極參與討論與合作，共同完成各項課程任務。

a. 發現建構設計
讓學生自己探索推理思考、解決問題、發現事實或法則，教學過程強調師生對話，即透過教師的專業引領，協助學生能自行建構解決問題的知能，教學原則包括：1. 由教師設計供學生探索解決的方案，2. 教師教授學生如何活用課程學習內容，3. 肯定學生在學習歷程展現出的耐力與努力特質。

b. 要求學生分組完成作業，要請小組成員先設定共同目標，並請小組成員說明如何彼此支援、協助、分享與鼓勵。實施原則包括：1. 設立共同目標，2. 成員彼此支援，3. 觀察學習中的互動，4. 訓練合作的社交技巧，5. 檢視合作過程與成果。

c. 問題導向或探究實作設計
利用學生生活情境，藉由觀察問題、定義問題、分析問題、解決問題等累積實作經驗。設計要素包括：1. 提出挑戰性的問題，2. 鼓勵持續性探究，3. 問題情境具真實性，4. 重視學生的聲音與選擇，5. 引領學生反思，6. 適時給予回饋，7. 公開或分享學生學習成果。
