一、課程目標Course objectives

During the semester, students are to learn
1.	Correct pronunciation of their own and other academic writings
2.	Important literature of wisdom and leadership and related issues.
3.	Academic writing in APA format.
4.	Abstract written for conference presentation.
課程目標：本課程適合想對智慧和領導文獻有興趣探討的學生，因此，透過一學期的課程，學生應可以學到：
1.	期刊論文之正確英文念與讀
2.	智慧與領導相關之重要英文專業文獻
3.	專業英文摘要與評論之撰寫
4.	英文簡短呈現專業研討會論文摘要的寫法

三、授課方式Teaching approach

Class Structure: Each class will consist of three parts. 
1.	During the first part of the class, instructor will spend roughly half an hour answering students’ questions on last week’s reading. 
2.	In the second part of the class, the instructor will teach the most important concept for that week’s reading. the instructor asks questions based on last week’s reading. Students are to voluntarily answer those questions or discuss any related issues in English.
3.	In the third part of the class, students are to spend roughly 1 hour to read to one another their prepared paragraph or the one-page homework wrote. Scores (for each student’s homework assignment) are graded by all class members (averaged and multiplied by 0.4) and the instructor (multiplied by 0.6).
*This course will be held as a English-comprehension/reading enhancing support group. 
原則上最先的半個小時，由老師回答對上週讀物學生所提出的問題，之後由老師導讀下週要閱讀的讀物。之後由同學互相唸自己的小作業(可能是唸讀一段上週閱讀的內容，也可能是互唸小作業和同學一起討論上一週所閱讀的讀物，如果有前週寫小作業，則彼此互唸所寫的小作業，之後全班與老師互相評分。(老師評分佔60%，學生全部平均之後評分佔40%)。

四、評量方式Grading criteria:

Students are expected to finish the self-assigned part of the weekly reading, write their weekly drafts, read their weekly readings, and actively participate in answering the instructor’s questions and discussing other related issues in English. For each homework assignment in writing, students are to make copies for the whole class. 
Grade Distribution: Evaluation consists of three four parts
1.	Class Participation: 24% (For every class the total participation score is 1.5, each participation is counted as 0.5 points/each time)
2.	Weekly Assignments, 16 of them, including reading, or writing draft: 80%
每堂上課之所做的英文小作業80%（16次每次五分）；上課參與24%(每週1.4分，發言一次0.5分最多共計三次)。

Students can choose from selective reading lists two readings and write a short review for each of them. 學生可以從讀物中選出喜歡的文章並寫一篇短的文獻回顧

八、TA協助事項Teaching Assistant tasks

(一)、課堂準備：訓練TA上課之前先到教室，將教學所需要的器材先架設好，並把隨堂考卷拿到教室。下課時再到教室來收回隨堂考卷與發言條回去登記。
(二)、	登錄成績：訓練TA如何根據將每週之成績以及發言分數在excel檔上做登記，並在總分的地方做累加和總成績比例的計算。此外，教師亦規定TA每週一定要在上課完五日之內將成績登錄好。每週在教師將成績公佈給學生之後，如果有任何學生對成績或發言分數有疑問，則再透過e-mail請TA查證。一般而言，為了保護TA，所有與學生在成績登錄上的互動皆由老師來做，TA只負責在幕後由老師透過轉接的e-mail來查證成績，成績查證後，仍由老師統一對學生發佈與修改成績有關之訊息。
 (三)、上課觀察：在適當時候於學期中選一門課實況錄影教學實景，做為學生參考，以及教師自我觀察反省改正教學之用。
*TA工作項目與分工詳述如下：
本堂課有之TA所負責之工作
	每週上課之前到教室將單槍準備好，螢幕拉下來，並將空白評分單以班級人數放置在教室內。
	登錄每週的成績，登錄作業和發言的成績，並將所有作業中答得最好選出五份，掃瞄上網。
