一、課程目標Course objectives

This advanced English course spans two semesters and explores diverse themes aligned with the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Each session, we will focus on a thought-provoking article that develops students' knowledge, reading, and critical thinking skills. Students will work with their peers to solve challenges and enhance their communication abilities. This advanced course fosters cross-disciplinary collaboration among students from diverse academic backgrounds to deepen their understanding of university social responsibility by drawing on shared expertise and perspectives.

Active participation in English-language tasks is essential, and students are expected to adhere closely to the provided course guidelines and activity instructions.

三、授課方式Teaching approach

Classes are discussion-based and task-oriented, with an emphasis on collaborative learning, applied vocabulary, and oral communication. The course prepares students to interact confidently with native speakers and navigate diverse forms of English media.

AI-Enhanced Teaching: During the final 30 minutes of each session, students will collaboratively complete an AI-enhanced assignment based on the weekly topic and submit it to Moodle. This task is required for completion within the class period.

Assessment Note on Collaborative Work: All AI Sandbox activities are done together in small groups during the last 30 minutes of each class. To make sure everyone participates and shares the work fairly, each student will take a different team role (The Prompter, The Text Anchor, The Lead Editor) each week. Your group’s work will be graded using clear rules that are posted on Moodle.

四、評量方式Grading criteria:

10% - Quizzes and Moodle forum discussion (ESAP cross-disciplinary reading)
20% - Mid term Presentation (3MT – Academic ideas made simple in 3 minutes)
20% - Final – Project Presentation
30% - In-class activities (Group shared)
10% - Self-Learning E-Portfolio Learning Materials
10% - Pre-test (Placement test)

* 10% Bonus: Students who participate in university or regional English-related competitions are eligible for a bonus of up to 10%.
