一、課程目標Course objectives
一、課程目標Course objectives: This course is aimed at equipping our graduate students with the ability to read and write technical English, in order to prepare them for effective communication in the international environment, where class scientific and technical exchanges are predominantly conducted in English. For non-native speakers of English, technical communication requires only simple and straight-forward English, but with the right grammar and structure in order to avoid ambiguity and misinterpretation. Hence, this course is not about learning vocabulary. We shall discuss basic usages of English in technical writing using examples, followed by classroom exercises. Student participation is highly encouraged. Homework will be and surprise (pop) quizzes will be assigned regularly to monitor and promote progress assigned regularly; homework and quiz grades will count toward passing requirements, as well as advancement to the second module, Technical English (II). 四、評量方式Grading criteria:（含評量項目及所佔比例，請運用多元評量） 1) Class participation (20%) 2) Homework (30%) 3) Finals (50%) Absentees must give valid reasons, and must take make-up tests. 五、參考書目Textbook & references:（酌列作者姓名、出版年份、書名、出版書局等資料） （一）教科書： 無 (自製教材) （二）參考書： Swales, J.
