一、課程目標Course objectives

This course is designed to guide students in developing the courage to confront and understand death and grief, challenging the silence and emotional suppression that often surround issues of mortality. Through theoretical and practical approaches to grief work, the course seeks to enhance students’ capacities for self-care and professional practice. Students will be introduced to diverse grief responses and major theories of grief counseling, enabling them to identify grief-related risks and to strengthen their ethical awareness and communication skills when addressing death-related issues across varied helping contexts. Special attention is given to students preparing for future social work practice, with a focus on responding to the grief experiences and needs of special and vulnerable populations. The goal of the course is to cultivate students’ professional attitudes and service competencies in working with grief and death.
